I recently finished both Future Shock and Future Threat by Elizabeth Briggs.
O…m….g….so good!
I read the first one in one day and the second over the course of two days, and that was only because I started it too late in the evening to finish it. But you better believe I spent the morning in my PJs finishing it.
Ava is recruited by Aether Corporation, a company with questionable motives and integrity, to go to the future along with four other teens. I know what you’re thinking…what? This screams of Back to the Future or the classic The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. I’ll admit there was a slight Back to the Future vibe to it, and one of the characters even cracks a DeLorean joke. However, the time travel wasn’t cheesy or anything. I totally bought into it.
I think what I liked about the series is that it raises the questions of choice, fate, and consequences. I realized recently that “who decides?” is a theme that runs through many of my books/ideas for books, included The Legacy Series. That made this particular series a perfect read for me.
The third book isn’t due out until spring 2018—a big sad face for that. I want it now!
I broke my own rule and read a series before it was complete. Oh, well. It gives me something to look forward to.
I highly recommend this series.
